The magnificent wonder in which we all live, the Solar System, is approximately 4.6 billion years old and is home to nine (or eight depending on who you ask) planets and their many, many moons that orbit around the Sun. Orbiting the Sun, from nearest to farthest, are the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Pluto is at times considered the 9th and outer-most planet, while others categorize it as a dwarf planet to accompany the other two dwarf planets: Makemake and Haumea. There are also approximately 200 moons orbiting the planets and dwarf planets within the solar system. Jupiter has the most moons in its orbit with over 60. Our Solar System is in the Milky Way galaxy, which is home to between 100-400 billion separate stars and their own Solar Systems.
