Launched into orbit around earth in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope has surveyed the universe and just celebrated its 30th anniversary. It is far from the only telescope in the Earth's orbit, but it is recognized as the most well-known and useful telescope used by many. The telescope is used internationally and, perhaps more interestingly, can be used by anyone to snap photos of the vast universe. Astronomers and prospective astronomers from around the globe can apply for time with the Hubble's equipment, although due to high demand it is difficult to gain access. The Hubble Telescope has taken many famous photographs of various phenomena such as star clusters, galaxies, black holes, comets, and many others. Considering the technological advances made in the last thirty years, it truly is remarkable how long the Hubble has provided meaningful use and, perhaps more impressively, it is believed to have another 10-20 years of work left to do.
